Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges
The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.
If you are on repeat medication we review your records annually to assess what appointments you may need for us to safely continue your medication. You will then be contacted to arrange these tests or appointments, including letting you know which members of staff you need to see and how long the appointment needs to be.
You may not need any tests or appointments, for example if you are being followed up in hospital appointments in this case we will not contact you and you don't need to take further action.
If you do not respond to our requests to arrange tests or appointments we may have to limit the amount of medication we issue, or in rare cases stop the medication until you have attended a review. (for medication which may be unsafe if not monitored).
Medication reviews can now be booked with our in-house clinical pharmacists at the practice, please click the following link to access the leaflet or ask at reception for information. Clinical Pharmacist
